Essential Motorsport Australia Licence Assessment | OLT Add-On

If you’re planning to step into competitive circuit racing, obtaining your Motorsport Australia racing licence is a crucial step — and the Observed Licence Test (OLT) is a key part of that process.

This add-on gives you the opportunity to complete your OLT during your chosen event, whether it’s an Arrive ’n’ Drive, Deputy 4 Hour endurance race, or a track day. It’s all about demonstrating safe, competent driving under modified race conditions so you can qualify for your racing licence.

🧠 What Is an Observed Licence Test?

An Observed Licence Test (OLT) is a practical driving assessment required by Motorsport Australia for drivers seeking to obtain or upgrade to a circuit racing licence.

During the OLT, a Motorsport Australia-accredited assessor will observe your driving in real, on-track sessions to ensure you have:

✔ Competent vehicle control at speed
✔ Understanding of track etiquette and safety
✔ Awareness of other vehicles and the racing environment
✔ Appropriate driving attitude for competitive motorsport

Successfully completing an OLT is mandatory for many competitive racing licences and helps ensure safety for you and others on track.

📄 Licencing Requirements You Must Complete

Before your OLT can be conducted, you must complete the following Motorsport Australia steps:

    1. Submit your Motorsport Australia licence application

    2. Complete the required online training/lecture

    3. Provide a completed medical examination form

    4. Bring your Motorsport Australia licence paperwork on the day

Participants must provide proof of these documents to take the OLT. Motorsport Australia only accepts OLT's that follow this official process.

➕ When You Can Add This

Select this add-on when booking any of the following:

    ✅ Arrive ’n’ Drive experience
✅ Deputy 4 Hour endurance race
    ✅ Track day entry

Adding the Observed Licence Test ensures you can complete your assessment at the event and work towards your Motorsport Australia circuit racing licence.

    💰 Pricing

    $295 (Add-On)

This fee is for the OLT assessment only. Licence application and medical costs are separate and payable through Motorsport Australia.

    📌 Important Notes

    • An OLT cannot be completed without the Motorsport Australia licence application and medical paperwork already submitted and approved.

    • Booking an OLT does not automatically guarantee a pass. You must be a competent driver and meet the Motorsport Australia guidelines as observed by a licensed instructor to pass.
    • You must bring your completed OLT assessment form and licence paperwork on the day.
    • Passing the OLT does not automatically issue your licence — you apply separately through Motorsport Australia after successful completion.
