Series Announcement: Jake Hextall takes on RX8 Cup 2026 series

Jake Hextall Confirmed as RaceAway’s RX8 Cup Series Driver

We’re excited to announce that Jake Hextall will be taking on a full season of RX8 Cup with RaceAway Track Time.

Jake has been putting in the work over the past year, and we’re stoked to see that commitment turn into a full series campaign. He first started with us last year building seat time and confidence through entry level races building his skillset into competitive motorsport.

He has been working intensely with RaceAway head coach Phil Alexander, but has also had the opportunity to learn from some awesome racers along the way, including Harry Inwood, Mick Hazelton, Rod Tippett and Jason Varley. That mix of coaching, seat time and race experience has helped Jake make some serious progress in a short space of time.

One of the standout moments in Jake’s career thusfar was winning the NSW Production Touring round 6 at One Raceway in the Mazda SP25. It was a big step forward and a great example of the consistency and racecraft Jake has been building.

He has also taken on some major events with RaceAway, including Challenge Bathurst and the Bathurst 6 Hour, gaining experience at Mount Panorama and continuing to grow as a driver and now having two Bathurst drives under his belt - something most motorsport enthusiasts could only dream of.

Jake made his RX8 Cup debut in Round 5 of the 2025 series at Sydney Motorsport Park, and it was a seriously impressive first outing.

After qualifying 17th with a 1:53.4308, Jake worked his way through the weekend with feedback from our coaches and improved in every race. He fought back after a tough Race 1, moved forward in Race 2, dipped into the 1:51s in Race 3, and finished the weekend with a top 10 result in Race 4.

For a first RX8 Cup weekend, that’s a huge effort.

Head coach Phil Alexander summed it up perfectly after Jake’s debut:

“Jake did a remarkable job for his SMSP RX8 Cup debut. The closer you get to the front in a one-make series like this, the harder it is to gain places. To finish inside the top 10 without a scratch on the car is impressive.”

Jake’s commitment to improving has been clear from the start with regular seat time and commitment to his racecraft.

Jake said:

“I’m absolutely stoked to be locked in for a full season of RX8 Cup. The category is a heavily controlled one-make series with cars that don’t have ‘a lot’ of power, which pushes you to develop and maximise your own abilities, race craft, focus on car set up and drive on the limit.

The calendar is stacked with great tracks and exposure like Phillip Island, SMSP, Winton and ending at One Raceway.

One unique challenge I’ve been learning with this platform is how much brake to carry into a corner to help rotate the car.”

With a full season ahead, we’re looking forward to seeing Jake keep building & pushing - and being there right alongside him!

A big thank you to Jake’s current sponsors and partners for helping make this RX8 Cup campaign possible: On Pah Grading, Shane’s Signs, Pheasant Wood Circuit, Canobolas Motorsport Services, Verus Lubricants and MWM Racing.

We’d also like to say a huge thanks to the RX8 Cup for their ongoing support and for running such a great category. It’s a fantastic place for drivers like Jake to develop their racecraft, build confidence and compete in proper one-make racing.
