WHAT IS AN OLT?

An Observed Licence Test is integral to receiving your Motorsport Australia racing licence. Successfully completing an OLT will allow you to show you have a basic understanding and knowledge of manoeuvring a vehicle at high speeds whilst ensuring the safety of yourself and others. Our qualified Motorsport Australia approved instructor will observe you under modified racing conditions at one of our upcoming Super Track Days.

You can complete your OLT in your own vehicle as long as it is a manual car, free of defects and has a passenger seat fitted. Please note that some cars are unsuitable (4X4, commercial vehicles, trucks etc) if you are unsure of the suitability of your vehicle please get in contact with us.

Please note: You will need to provide your pre-licence authority BEFORE your OLT - you cannot undertake an OLT without this form. This can be done through the Motorsport Australia website:

THE TEST

An OLT will provide you with a basic knowledge of racing procedures and rules with a focus on the safety of yourself, other drivers and spectators. You need to pass your OLT before being issued with a Motorsport Australia Racing Licence. Booking an OLT and Super Track Day does not guarantee that you will pass.

Give yourself the best chance - It is highly recommended that you undertake one-on-one coaching before attempting your OLT to give yourself the best chance of passing.
