RaceAway Track Time was born out of a deep passion for motorsports by our head coach Phil Alexander. With over four decades in the motor racing industry, Phil brings a wealth of experience to making motor racing accessible and improving race times.

Phil Alexander has over four decades of experience in the motorsports industry. He is the lead Driver Trainer and CEO of RaceAway Track Time as well as the Road To Bathurst program.

Phil’s extensive career has encompassed some of Australia’s most famous racing events, competing in the Bathurst 1000 in the early 1980s, finishing in the top 10 outright in 1982 and ’83. His passion for production sports cars also saw him competing in the world’s most prestigious endurance races including the Bathurst 12 Hour, Nürburgring 24 Hour, and Thunder Hill 25 Hour.

Phil’s name is synonymous with the birth of Rotary Racing as his early experience with tuning Rotary engines led him to build one of the first Rotary racing engines in Australia. Through his business Alexander Rotary, Phil specialised in tuning and performance developments, working with racing legends such as Terry Shields and Rick Shaw.

In the early 2000’s Phil began coaching his two sons through karting and leading them into motorsports through the one-make Pulsar Racing Series, which has evolved into one of the most affordable and competitive series in the state-level scene.

RaceAway was born out of the culmination of Phil’s considerable experience, providing a platform for people to experience the thrill of motorsport at a cost-effective level, without requiring the expertise or infrastructure to own and prepare a race car.

Phil holds Motorsport Australia (CAMs) and AASA national competition licences and is an authorised licence assessor for both sanctioning bodies.
