LEARN FROM A PROFESSIONAL

Starting with the basics, your coach will take you through the problem areas of the track focussing on braking and accelerating techniques. Your coach will spend time getting to understand your racing experience and style. Your coach will supervise you through out the day evaluating your driving to pinpoint areas of improvement.

The day begins with a slow drive/track walk which allows you to familiarize yourself with the conditions and the track. After a seat fitting and safety briefing you then move on to sighted laps, in-car tuition and hot laps (where applicable). After supervised rounds, you are back in the pits with your coach using video analysis and track maps to identify areas of improvement and vehicle dynamics. Throughout the day you can expect your coach to give you tips and tricks on different racing elements suited to your needs from inside and outside the car.

 Why RACEAWAY?

It’s simple. Because we race! Our head coach Phil Alexander lives and breathes motorsports.

He boasts an outstanding history encompassing some of Australia’s most famous racing events, competing in the Bathurst 1000 in the early 1980s, finishing in the top 10 outright in 1982 and ’83. His passion for production sports cars also saw him competing in the world’s most prestigious endurance races including the Bathurst 12 Hour, Nürburgring 24 Hour, and Thunder Hill 25 Hour. Phil’s career in motorsports coaching began in the 70’s when he coached a number of beginner drivers for Ameroo and Oran Park Street Sedan racing series.

Fast forward to the early 2000’s, Phil’s two sons joined the motorsports world as enthusiastic karters. Under his guidance they saw many trophies fill the cabinets including first place in the Eastern Creek Junior National Light Championship. Phil’s love of motorsports is evident in his coaching. He regularly coaches drivers for race events such as the production touring, MX5 Cup, RX8 Cup, and endurance racing events. Recent wins include the 2021 Bathurst 6 hour (e), and 2021 APRA Championship.

Because of his wealth of experience, Phil holds CAMS and AASA national competition licences and is an authorised race licence provider (OLT) for both sanctioning bodies.
