The Team

Phil Alexander

Lead Driver - Head Instructor - Top Dog

With over 35 years competitive experience in production car racing Phil Alexander has competed at many of Australia's most prestigious events such as the Bathurst 1000, the Bathurst 6/12 hour. Phil has also competed at international events such as the Nurburgring 24 hr, the Thunderhill (USA) 25hr enduro to name a few.

Phil Alexander‘s need for speed began at a young age, racing around the streets of Earlwood on home made billy karts, bikes and then in his mothers car (once or twice). His passion caught the attention of a local John Simmons who showed the way forward onto the racing track. Local clubs such as Mazda Car Club provided forums for lap dashes and motorkhana’s and he was soon hooked. He started his first workshop, Alexander Rotary on Parramatta Road, Five Dock and became well known for his pioneering in Rotary Engines, building and performance development. Those who loved their Mazda’s would flock to Alexander Rotary for engine performance builds on their RX 2’s, 3’s, 4’s 7’s and anything Rotary related.

Having competed at most of the racing tracks in Australia, Phil headed to the infamous Bathurst Hardie Ferodo 1000 in '81, '82 and '83.  Up against the big money cars and funded driver’s, Phil proved his pedal to the metal on the track with two Top 10 finishes.

His love of motorsport has brought many others to the field along the way,  most notably Ric Shaw who started his mechanical and racing career with Phil at Alexander Rotary.   Ric is now involved with endurance racing around the world, with Phil and Ric both racing an RX 7 at Nurburgring 24Hr, Nissan 370Z at Thunderhill, USA 25Hr and RX 7 at Bathurst 12Hr.

Things slowed down for Phil as he raised his family, until his son Gene put it to his dad that perhaps karting might be more fun than soccer. Then Phil's second son - Carey joined in, fitting the old Kart, he began to follow his brother.  A great fraternity started with the 3 boys heading to Kart tracks around NSW, eventually both boys winning and placing in the NSKC championships.

As the boys grew older, Karts became cars. Phil at this time had already built a few Pulsar’s, and was enthusiastic about the new APRA Pulsar Series, which provides an entry level racing at a reasonable budget.  Both Phil and Gene began putting in serious time on the cars going from 1 car and 1 trailer, to 7 cars, a van, 2 trailers and a truck. They began competing at events such as APRA, Bathurst 6hr, Thunderhill, and most importantly the newly Aussie introduced 24hr Le mons Race. From this the idea of race car rental was hatched.

Phil's wealth of experience and his enthusiasm for motor sports have made him one of Australia's most well known and respected racers.  Phil Alexander - Holds CAMS , AASA and NASA Competition Licenses.
